I don't know what it was but it took me quite a while to get through this book.  It wasn't that it was uninteresting but it was just a slower read for me.  Possibly could have just been my life at the time...I don't know.
Anyway, a lot of political topics as her books tend to have.  There were two romanic relationships it focused on about equally which was interesting since most books only have one.  There was just a bit more passion {TMP} than I was comfortable with.  There were also many {Uncomfortable Moments} which also goes along with the {Subject Matter} in most cases.  A "bad part of town" is described where terrible things happen.  She doesn't go into graphic detail but you know it's an awful place and you can deduce what happens there.
I could recommend this book but it probably wouldn't be my first pick to tell someone about.

I love Sandra Byrd!  She has such a great sense of mystery!
This is a first book in a new series and I'm super excited about it.
It did feel a little bit drawn out but for the most part it really kept my interest and I was guessing on the conclusion until the very end.
I loved the topic of antiques and treasures and found that aspect of the book fascinating.
Only a few {Uncomfortable Moments} and the tiniest bit of {Too Much Passion}.
None of it is enough to keep me from heartily recommending this book to anyone!  Can't wait for number two coming out next year!

This book was very clean!  There were only a couple of mildly {Uncomfortable Moments}.
As for the story, I enjoyed it but I feel that most of Jen Turano's heroines are super similar; unconventional, at least a little bit flighty and always seem to get themselves into ridiculous situations!  I would love to see a different kind of character from her.  However, I keep reading what she writes because her stories are cute and funny and fluffy...I just know exactly what to expect...which isn't necessarily a bad thing I suppose :)
I could easily recommend this book to someone who wants a light read.

I loved this book!
I always enjoy the history Elizabeth Camden puts into her stories.  It makes them super interesting and believable.  There were so many elements that I loved in this book; from the banter between the main characters, the descriptions of the orchids and spices, the emotional trauma to the vulnerability and openness of the leading man.
The plot was very exciting to me and I actually ended up describing it to my husband which I rarely do because I know he's not usually interested...he seemed to tolerate this one easily enough though :)
There were just a few {Uncomfortable Moments} but no other objections at all!
I am super excited that this is going to be a series and can't wait for the next installment!

Loved it!
It wasn't as much of a mystery as I had hoped but it was delightful!
I loved how she intertwined three different stories and how the lady had the upper hand the whole time.  Great ending!  I hear this is going to be a series so I am really excited about that :)

I'll admit, this book was a bit confusing at times...I had a lot of questions but I think they were all eventually answered by the end.
It was definitely different with a very unique story line.
Towards the very end there was just a small part of a {Back Story} that I didn't like and there may have been one or two {Uncomfortable Moments} but other than that it was a very clean book...no real issues there.
There were times when I felt like it was taking too long to resolve but once it started, it happened very fast :)
I would have no problem recommending this book with its interesting mystery and sweet romance.

Recommendable

What I think I liked most about this story was that the heroine was not perfect.  She makes a poor decision and she suffers the consequences.  I was miserable right along with her for a while there...
There was only one slightly {Uncomfortable Moment} and the kissing scenes were just a little too much for me {Too Much Passion}...
but, good characters, pretty good plot and a story that I could recommend.
