I really enjoyed this book with the exception of a few things...
There were just a couple of {Uncomfortable Moments}...nothing terrible
This is a Civil War story based on true events that occurred at a plantation in Tennessee.
A battle is fought practically in their back yard and so the injured are brought to the home. There is quite a bit of talk of amputation, death, gangrene, etc. and not always in general terms...it came close to being too much for me a couple of times. That is why I gave it the {Subject Matter} rating.
The {Language} rating was for times when I couldn't tell if someone was praying or using the Lord's name in another way. Seeing that it's a Christian book, the author most likely doesn't see it as being in vain, but I wasn't always super comfortable with it.
Then, of course, there was just a bit too much of a description during the kissing scene/s for my comfort level.
However, overall, it tells a powerful story and it is a book I would probably feel comfortable recommending.
Not a lighthearted read, huh? It will have to go in the "read when I am not already stressed" pile. :)
