On The Fence About Recommending...

Good story, enjoyable characters, a tiny bit of mystery but...
a few {Uncomfortable Moments}, half a dozen instances of God's name used inappropriately {Language}, and the tiniest bit of {Back Story} involving a minor character.
If it weren't for the Language I would have given it a higher rating and would feel totally fine recommending it.  I wish I could whole heartedly because the writing was very good.  She has obviously done her research and writes about this period very knowledgeably.

With the exception of a handful of mildly {Uncomfortable Moments} this book was rather clean.
It was a cute story...mostly fluff and a couple of frustrating 'why didn't you communicate better' moments...but one that I would not have a problem recommending to friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book...I read it in one day.
Look how beautiful the cover is...
It was a lovely story up until the very last two pages...
I felt like the one kissing scene was just a tad too much (Too Much Passion) (and she used the phrase that it seems every author uses...'he deepened the kiss'...that drives me crazy) and I felt like the things they said to each other at the end were kind of more cheesy than usual.
There were just one or two mildly {Uncomfortable Moments}...nothing totally embarrassing.
So if you're up for a sweet, little romance with a cheesy ending, this would be a good pick!
I will be interested in anything else she writes though...it really was a cute and clean book :)

Castle on the Rise

Could Possibly Recommend

I really wanted to LOVE this book since I liked the first one in the series so much.
Three different time periods are jumped between...like in the first.  The subject matter in the two oldest periods were so heavily political that I kind of struggled understanding everything.  I was able to follow the basic story but I definitely felt in the dark through so much of it.
There is just one {Uncomfortable Moment} that I can think of and a few times the Lord's name is used not to my liking {Language}.
The present day period was the one I liked the most...but sadly, I felt like I was counting the pages until I reached the next present day chapter instead of enjoying the historical chapters for what they were.  So basically, even though the objectionable content rating is the same as The Lost Castle (I added the {L} this time), I did not feel as eager to recommend this book.
If, unlike me, someone is an Irish history buff, then they will most likely enjoy it very much :)

Hidden Among the Stars

Wow!
I loved this book!
I think I have mentioned before on this blog that I have always enjoyed WWII stories.
This one did not disappoint and it was really quite clean...let me explain my ratings...
There was just one or two mild {Uncomfortable Moments} and one or two instances of a character thanking God in a more casual manner than I feel comfortable with {Language}.  There was also a rape {Subject Matter} but you just know it happened (no details) and I feel it is handled well by the author.
This book does intertwine two time periods and I thought it was done very well.  I felt like this story was particularly poignant and beautiful on more than one level.
Two things that I really liked about this book:
There is a twist (I always like twists!)
Also, by the end, not all of the characters end up knowing the whole story or truth of what happened...it's not a neat, tied up package sort of story.  Usually, I think that kind of thing would bother me but I thought it all quite fitting in this book.
Anyway, once again, I seriously loved this book will be recommending it to all my book loving friends :)
