The Best of Intentions

I really enjoyed this book!  Strong characters....good plot, though a bit predictable.
I did feel like the kissing scenes were just a bit too much {TMP}.
There was one use of the Lord's name with which I wasn't comfortable but most people probably wouldn't consider it in vain and just one or two {UM}.
Really quite clean!
I will be interested to read the rest of this new series!

The Edge of Recall

Probably Recommend with an Explanation

Recently I checked a couple books out from the library of which I had no background knowledge.  Both were set in modern day and both looked super interesting.
I was so disappointed in them though.  One just had too much swearing for me and the other one started out really well but the further I got into the book junk started to creep in :(  I didn't finish either one.
I can think of two other library books where the same thing happened and I was so frustrated with the direction these authors felt like they needed to take their plots!
I'm making note of these authors so I won't touch them with a ten foot pole again...maybe I should post the list sometime.

Anyway, having come off of those disappointing books, I was in need of something to read.
I went to my stacks of books I have purchased and never read (my mom teases me about this) and pulled this one out.  I was hesitant since it too was modern and I didn't know anything about this author.  However, it was a Christian publisher so that gave me a bit of comfort :)

I was so pleased that there was absolutely no swearing in this book!
What a miracle!
It was really clean with some small exceptions that probably wouldn't bother most people:
The kissing did get over described in a couple of places {TMP}...but not terribly.
A secondary character has a {BSt} that is referenced a couple of times but is not pertinent to the plot.
There were some {UM}...among which was a scene where the main woman falls asleep in a hospital bed with the main man...of course nothing untoward happens but I was a bit uncomfortable with that. Also, toward the end of the book there is a question of whether or not he will sleep in her bed one night to protect her.  He doesn't...but there is that.

Overall, the book was intriguing...it kept me reading!
There is definitely mystery and excitement which, when paired with clean, is right up my alley :)!

Every now and then I like to venture into a cozy mystery.
This is one I picked up at a cute bookstore in New Hampshire while visiting my sister there several years ago.  I am just now getting around to reading it :)
While the plot and characters were well developed and it kept me reading, I was disappointed in the {L}.  That was what I had most against the book.  It wasn't profuse but it was there and bothered me.  There are a couple of instances of {BSt} that aren't super critical to the story and are barely made mention of and also a few {UM}.
If it weren't for the language I think I might try another in the series but my guess is that the same will show up in her other books as well so I will continue my search for a clean mystery series to be able to suggest :(

Not Recommend :(

I saw this in Seagull Book the other day...brand spankin' new!
I had never heard of this author before but it looked promising so I decided to give it a shot!
I am so sorry to say that I can't recommend this book because I felt like there was {TMP}.
There were also a few {UM} but I could have looked past those if it weren't for the passion :(
I liked the story, although, at times, I did feel like there was way too much miscommunication going on between the main characters and some of the conversations seemed unrealistically contrived.
If Mrs Hatch publishes more, I might be interested in trying them but I wish I could first whisper in her ear and ask her to tone things down so I could recommend her writing.

Could Probably Recommend

This book started out slow for me but about midway through it picked up and ended with quite a bit of action.
Besides a few {UM} the only complaint I had was that, while it is a very Christian book, she uses the Lord's name a lot and I didn't always feel that it was in a reverent way.
Quite clean otherwise!

This book was a little bit different in that you travel around Europe through the progression of the story.  I really enjoyed that and the descriptions of France and Italy.
It is a pretty predictable plot though and there definitely is a {BSt} attached to one of the lesser characters...which ends up being a pretty big part of the book.  Just a few {UM} but the characters are very likable and of course there is a happy ending for...almost everyone :)
I could probably recommend this book with the explanation of the backstory.
